Project Run and Play, Season 9 has come to a close. I had a great time designing and sewing (along) toward specific challenges. There is something wonderful about defined limits on a project that makes my creativity stretch. I knew in advance I wanted the pieces I produced for PRP to mix and match (and be truly wearable), so I've been referring to it as a mini-collection. Five looks, four challenges. Casual to formal-dressy.

Project Run & Play, Season 9 Mini-Collection -- Spring Green |
In the last four weeks I created 4 tops, 4 bottoms, 2 sweaters, 1 formal dress, and 1 beret. Wow! No wonder I'm feeling a tad burned out.

So much...and the dress isn't even here! |
I tied the collection together with color: spring-green, black & white, pops of teal; with pattern: stripes, polka dots, solids; and with shape: bell shirts, color-blocked yokes. I put thought into each piece and how it could relate back to the others. I'll admit there's more black than I intended, but I fell in love with the denim + green combo and let it inspire me. That green creates the strongest through-line. If I were going to be pretentious and actually name this collection, I'd totally call it "Spring Green."
So how well does it mix and match? Even better than I hoped. Here are just a few of the many possible combinations that The Peanut can pull out of her wardrobe and still look put together.

Signature Style week calls for just one outfit, but in truth this post best sums up my current signature style: easy to wear for everyday use with clean lines and lovely details. It's a happy bonus that my work to create mix & match children's separates paid off so handsomely.

ReplyDeleteThanks! That's important to me -- that it's useful/wearable. I don't want to spend all the time and energy for pretty pictures or one-time events.
