It's Inspire Us Thursday! It's Summer! Grab your iced-tea or lemonade, lounge back on your virtual beach chair, pretend your toes are in the sand, and spend some time viewing all these links with me. Here you'll find a group of links dedicated to projects in fiber: yarn, thread, fabric, and floss. Maybe you're a quilter who will be inspired to try crochet. Heatwave-Ready in a Retro Romper

Last week we had a lovely heatwave. As you may recall, The Peanut and I melt into cranky piles of goo at anything over 72°. It was well over 90°, nearing 100°. It was time to break out the Summer-with-a-capital-S clothes.

...and it was time to stay inside with the air conditioning for photo shoots.

It's Inspire Us Thursday! And I want to use my time browsing the amazing works that are linked each week. Since Summer's time is limited (no school = more time with The Peanut), I will be featuring the most-viewed link each week until the fall. Happy Homemade Sew-Along Hoodie

When Meg of Elsie Marley and Cherie of You & Mie announced a sew-along for the Pull Over Parka (Hoodie) from Happy Homemade: Sew Chic Kids I was excited! I have this book! I've done this pattern! I was in!

I went out, got the fabrics, threw them in the washing machine, and pulled out the pattern to see if I needed to trace a bigger size (I didn't) or if I could use the one I traced in the fall (I could). And I was going to stop there. I was. But I was excited.

Don't worry she still has arms in real life. The hoodie does too.

Tote-ally Thankful for Our Teachers

Every new school year (or new-school) I feel compelled to sew something for The Peanut. I forge a shield of protection out of fabric and mother's love to send with her off into the world. It's the end of the school year and the last year of three in her current program. Once again I was driven to sew something imbued with all my love and gratitude and awe. This time I'm sewing for her teachers.
