No-School Sewing

Out of 23 potential weekdays for school in January, The Peanut has been, or will be, out of school for 10 days plus 2 two-hour delays, if not more (thanks, holidays & freeze days). How fitting that I had already chosen the After-School Pattern by Oliver + S to work on during this time. I shall forever remember it as the No-School Pattern.

There's a Hershey Kiss hidden in those pockets.

Couch Craft: Cowl & Hat

During the Great Pumpkin Crochet Frenzy of September 2013 I spent a month creating a tiny family of stuffed pumpkins. There were adorable little stems and twirly green vines on squishy little pumpkins. And then I completely lost steam for my favorite Couch Craft, crochet. [Couch Craft: That which you create with your hands while sitting on the couch in the evening watching, or rather listening to, TV.] I even had the plans and the yarn to crochet up some ornaments for Christmas gifts and it never happened. Momentum completely gone.

Tote of Protection

Mr. Wren, watching me frantically sew: We could just buy The Peanut a tote bag if that's what her new school requires.
Me: But I'm not making a tote bag. I'm forging a shield of protection out of Mother's Love.

Mr. Wren: Or you could do that.

2013 In Review

2013 was the year of Mary Poppins. Not only did we watch and read a lot of her, but with the help of my sewing machine, crochet hooks, and The Peanut, we were privileged to meet her in person. Twice! (Once at her 4th Birthday Party and again on Halloween.)
